    Free Resources For Graphic Designers! (May 2015)

    Hello everyone! When it comes to being a digital designer, you’re bound to be using hundreds of different tools, fonts, actions and software to create various pieces of design throughout your creative career.

    This doesn’t come cheap though. Sure, you might be able to get your employer to purchase some bits and bobs for you to use for commercial purposes. But when it comes to your own personal or portfolio projects, you need to be able to fund yourself.

    However, it doesn’t have to be expensive. Lucky for you, there are various free pieces of software and tools available to download and use online! We wanted to share our best free finds from this month with you, but make sure you read and follow any licences or usage notes before throwing them into your project. :)

    Free Graphic Design Resources!

    1) 24 Free Vector Dry Brush Strokes

    These brushes are brilliant! The rough texture can be used in a variety of ways, including sketching, texture, borders and more! With a simple download, you’ll have a brand new set of brushes to use in Photoshop, free of charge.

    2) 20 Free High-Res Geometric Polygon Backgrounds

    We found this resource over at Pinterest and it’s a really great one! This page allows you to download 20 high-quality polygon backgrounds… For FREE! So if your stuck on time to create your own, or you just plain don’t know how to yet, you can download these and use them for free. :)

    3) Freepik

    Now this site is definitely one you need to visit. Freepik is a great image hosting site that allows you to download and use hundreds of FREE vectors and illustrations, under a Creative Commons license.

    There’s some really great ones on there, varying from borders to surround your pages in to brilliant icons you could use for app development!

    4) 10 Free Detailed Vector Halftone Texture Backgrounds

    Here’s a great texture pack for illustrators and artists out there to download. Using these textures, you can create a great halftone effect; just like in comic books! It doesn’t necessarily have to be solely used in comic book artwork, however it’s a great tool to have if you are creating something like that!

    5) 20 Free Fonts for Minimalistic Designs

    You can’t really go wrong with a free font… But 20?! Hell yeah!

    This pack contains 20 different, individual fonts that have a minimalistic style implemented into them. These would be fantastic for posters and web design, give them a download if you’re looking for some new fonts!

    6) Free Photoshop Action – Sunny

    Here’s a brilliant little action tool for anyone using Photoshop. This tool adjusts the levels and lighting of an image to make it look, well… sunny!

    This will make any image look vibrant, relaxing, positive and warm, so definitely download it if you’re into photography or illustration!

    7) Freebie Release: 50 Pictograms Of Everyday Life

    These simple yet brilliantly charming are yours to keep and use with just a click of a button. From chef to sitting down chilling, these little icons are very fun and are sure to make applications and presentations pop with character.

    Definitely get these into your icon resource folder if you’re an app or interface designer!

    8) Free Photoshop Action – One-Click WOW! Action

    This completely free Photoshop action tool is amazing. With one click, your Photoshop program will go through a variety of filters and processes and create a crystal clear image with the actions specified.

    By brightening the image and making the colours more vibrant, you can make any image look good with this action tool.
