Contemporary Rebrand And Familiar Style
As an international oil and gas consultancy company, One6 required a clean and professional image for their new brand as well as a website that utilised a golden ratio design.
One6’s brand utilised the Fibonacci sequence ( 0, 1,1,2,3,5,8,12,21,34,55,89,144 …), where each subsequent number is made from the sum of the previous two. The so-called ‘Golden Ratio’ (roughly 1:6) is the ratio between two subsequent numbers in the Fibonacci sequence such as between 3/2 or 5/3 for example. This ratio became famous in art and architecture and was considered aesthetically pleasing throughout the centuries. It is also found in nature: in the shapes of artichokes, ferns, pineapples, sunflowers and shells, to name a few.
Having firstly examined their existing branding and their use of the Fibonacci sequence, we were eager to incorporate these into a new, modern design. However, we were also keen to maintain an image that was familiar to One6’s existing clients.Back to top
Proportion And Order
It was crucial that we referred to the creative brief in order to develop concepts that would appeal to the company’s existing client base, whilst also attracting new enquiries.
Our client particularly liked a specific image of a shell, that included tones of blue and grey. We used this image as inspiration for One6’s brand colours.
We used the concept of the Fibonacci sequence and the golden spiral to create a sense of proportion and order. Several of our concepts implemented various spirals: from ornate to stylised designs, within the logo.Back to top
The final branding concept refers to the ‘golden spiral’ and the 1:6 ration in proportions– symbolic of the Fibonacci theory and essential to One6’s brand.
We then developed the brand across the company’s marketing materials and website. This ensured that the company had a consistent and professional image across all marketing channels.Back to top
Corporate Appeal And Creative Depth
Throughout planning stages, we were keen to include the 1:6 proportions that were first introduced through the brand and print projects.
We wanted to convey a sense of clarity and an aesthetic image that appeals to the corporate market, through a clean and contemporary design.
It was essential that we maintain appeal to the corporate market, whilst incorporating additional elements of creativity and depth within the design that would engage and intrigue users.
Our priority was to create a professional website that evokes a feeling of trust within the end users.Back to top
Intuitive Animation And Functionality
The brand colours are grey and blue, together with brown as an accent colour. We felt that the use of the silver/grey for the main content body and the blue as a main highlight colour, would work as the best colourway for clarity and legibility.
We would make use of the Fibonacci 1:6 proportions where possible, without hindering the usability of the website. Simple functionality would be maintained to allow users to reach their desired destination within three clicks.
We designed several animations within the website to add dynamism and aid in creating an intuitive user experience.
All banners would display imagery symbolic of the Golden Spiral and 1:6 ratios. The banner would also animate to slide down each web page, revealing website content to the user.
Moreover, the links in the navigation menu would initially display the Fibonacci number scale when hovered over. ThisBack to top
Smooth Functionality And Transitions
Our final design was aimed at evoking a feeling of trust within the corporate market.
In the background, we incorporated an ornate spiral with low opacity to combine the existing branding with our new design. To re-enforce the brand even further and to maintain brand consistency, we incorporated the golden ratio throughout the layout.
The website contains each of these elements, plus additional photographic imagery to further reiterate the message.
With smooth functionality and transitions, the website offers a dynamic user-friendly experience and displays a wide range of content without overwhelming the user.

Professional Image With Creative Hints
It was our priority to create a design that was in keeping with One6’s existing branding in order to reiterate the foundations their brand was built upon. This is why we constantly referred to the Fibonacci theory and the 1:6 ration.
All the concepts we provided were based upon the client’s need to present a professional image to a corporate market, whilst still maintaining hints of creativity. This would allow for One6 to distinguish themselves from their competitors.Back to top
We used the brand colours – blue and grey – and incorporated them into a design that evoked clarity and trust. We used a legible font, which – combined with the creative but professional design – successfully communicates their ethos to their corporate audience.
Additionally, the business cards and stationery are cut to a 1:6 proportion.
The final business cards were printed onto a matte-laminated paper stock of a standard weight – 400 GSM.Back to top
